How You’ll Make an Impact

An Environmental Compliance Specialist II provides technical expertise and support for environmental multidisciplinary projects, including but not limited to environmental and resource management. Under this position, the specialist will aid with regulatory analyses; perform field surveying, monitoring and inspections; prepare compliance and resource documentation; and support project teams to ensure adherence to environmental laws and permitting requirements. An Environmental Compliance Specialist II will  have the opportunity to gain experience working under senior staff on more complex projects.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts detailed research and analysis of environmental regulations, policies, and permitting requirements.
  • Assists in the development and submission of environmental permits, compliance reports, and impact assessments.
  • Monitors and supports project teams in meeting federal, state, and local environmental compliance requirements (e.g., the National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA], Clean Water Act [CWA], Clean Air Act [CAA]). Field Monitoring and Data Collection.
  • Performs site inspections, audits, and field assessments to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Oversees data collection and assists in the interpretation of environmental monitoring results.
  • Supports the implementation and monitoring of best management practices (BMPs) related to erosion control, stormwater management, air quality, and hazardous materials.
  • Prepares compliance reports, regulatory documentation, and impact mitigation plans.
  • Ensures proper documentation and record-keeping of environmental compliance activities.
  • Contributes to environmental audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance gaps.
  • Serves as a task manager or phase manager for non-complex compliance-related tasks.
  • Communicates with project teams, regulatory agencies, and clients to provide compliance guidance.
  • Coordinate and schedules field teams while acting as daily point person for general site inquiries.
