The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by The Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of three sections—operations, preparedness, and financial administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States military. The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions.

Job Summary:This position provides senior level leadership and oversees the daily operations of armed security officers providing security services to Arizona Army National Army (ARNG) facilities. Responsible for leading, managing, and site specific training for all SOIIs (Shift Supervisors) and SOIs (Security Officers) at their assigned installation and assists in the planning, coordination and organization of programs within the Security Forces Department. Ensures all CBT is completed by direct and indirect report employees. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.
Job Duties:Responsibilities include:
• Oversee security guard services at assigned facility. Responsible for leading, managing, and site-specific training for all SOII’s (Shift Supervisors) and SOI’s (Security Officers) at their assigned installation. Directs Shift Supervisors and subordinate personnel towards the accomplishment of their duties, monitors corrective actions, advises the Senior Security Chief of actions taken or required.
• Develops, reviews, and updates security plans, procedures and processes ensuring inclusion of tenant unit security requirements. Assists in the planning, coordination and organization of programs in coordination with the Senior Security Chief/PMO/WAATS Garrison Command.
• Coordinates with the Security Training Officer to ensure all employees successfully completes initial and in-service Security Training Programs. Oversees the FTP at their assigned location. Spot checks employees to ensure the performance of duties is in compliance with training and policy.
• Oversees the interactions with tenant units to support requested security requirements for additional activities. Directs security guard services for Flight line operations at AASF #2, WAATS, and Peace Vanguard. Interact with foreign nationals in support of Peace Vanguard.
• Perform duties of Security Officer I and SOII when needed including controlling entry and egress of personnel and vehicles, via entry control point, of designated restricted area. Responding to IDS failures, shipping/ receiving of assets. Coordinating security checks and gate access. Reviewing and maintaining logs of access into restricted areas IAW Army regulations.
• Review written reports of subordinate personnel for completeness and accuracy, taking follow up actions as required. Prepare performance appraisals. Completes and/or reviews human resource forms for submission to HR, including but not limited to; Recruitment requests, personnel action, and progressive discipline
Knowledge of:
• General Access Control Point operating procedures, patrol operations and emergency response.
• Applying search & seizure, arrest, use of force procedures.
• Must possess a functional knowledge of personal computer operations in a network environment.
• Electronic devices (i.e., radio and communications, computers, monitors, recording, and photography) and other security equipment.
• Standardized federal laws, regulations, methods, procedures, operating techniques, state, and local laws to perform tasks including, but not limited to, pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene; performing dispatcher duties involving passing of directions and information to officers on posting assignments; seeking, detecting, and protecting evidence and witnesses at t
