What is special about this role?With Helix's growing network of health system partners and, innovative Sequence Once, Query Often™ model, and proprietary clinico-genomic dataset, we have a unique opportunity to revolutionize our revenue cycle and billing processes. As the Associate Director of Billing Operations & Reimbursement at Helix, you will be a critical operational leader responsible for defining and implementing strategies to optimize billing processes and build highly efficient, AI-driven billing operations. Your primary focus will be on optimizing our end-to-end billing processes through automation and intelligent solutions, while also overseeing foundational market access activities. We are looking for a highly analytical and KPI-driven individual who can lead a lean and effective team, leveraging technology to maximize efficiency. 
As an Associate Director, Billing Operations & Reimbursement you will:Strategic Planning and Development
  • Develop and execute an AI-first strategy to optimize end-to-end billing processes, leveraging automation and predictive analytics across the entire billing workflow – from upstream processes (benefits investigations, prior authorizations) through to payment posting
  • Develop and implement comprehensive billing and coding strategies designed to optimize reimbursement for Helix's testing services
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across all steps of the billing process, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions.
Operational Execution and Oversight
  • Oversee day-to-day billing operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy through automated workflows and intelligent systems
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions, with a strong emphasis on AI and automation, to continuously enhance billing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in billing regulations, payer policies, and industry trends
  • Develop and maintain clear and concise billing policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization
Collaboration and Relationship Management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Legal, Medical Affairs, Finance) to define and set up appropriate policies and processes to ensure accurate and timely billing and to proactively address any reimbursement-related issues
  • Support payer relations, including maintaining relationships with key payers, understanding their policies, and resolving routine issues
  • Manage relationships with third-party billing vendors, ensuring alignment with our AI-first strategy and performance expectations
  • Support externally facing teams (sales, partner success, medical affairs) by proactively identifying and resolving reimbursement related issues that could impact customer relationships

About you:
  • Mission-oriented, with a deep passion for improving people's lives through DNA
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management and billing operations, with a strong preference for experience in genetics
  • Proven track record of significantly improving revenue cycle performance and optimizing billing processes through the strategic implementation of technology and automation
  • In-depth expertise in medical billing, coding, and reimbursement practices, ideally within molecular diagnostics, coupled
