Medical Assistant - Float Pool - Encinitas

This is a benefited, full-time position generally working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends or holidays. The position is located at Scripps Clinic Encinitas, off Santa Fe Drive, and serves as a building float between Primary Care, Cardiology, Urology, and other specialty departments. This is a hybrid role that includes both MA front office and MA back office responsibilities.

Your job duties:

• Front office duties (Patient Service Representative)
• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:
 

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
   

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting 

• Primary care experience
