Position Title: General Foundry Worker
Department: Operations / Manufacturing
Pay: $20.77-$24.58
Shift: 1st shift- 4:00AM -2:30PM Monday-Friday (OT when required) 

Position Summary:

The Iron Foundry Worker performs various tasks involved in the production of iron castings. This includes preparation, melting, molding, core-making, pouring, cooling, and finishing operations. Work is performed in a heavy industrial environment with adherence to strict safety, quality, and productivity standards as defined in the collective bargaining agreement with the United Steelworkers (USW).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare molds and cores using hand tools and automated equipment.
  • Operate furnaces, pour molten metal into molds, and monitor temperatures and material flow.
  • Remove castings from molds and perform cleaning operations such as grinding, shot blasting, or chipping.
  • Inspect castings for quality defects and perform basic measurements using gauges or visual inspection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to high temperatures, dust, fumes, noise, and vibrations.
  • Physical labor including lifting (up to 75 lbs.), standing, bending, and working in confined or elevated areas.
  • Use of respirators, face shields, gloves, steel toed work boots with metatarsal guards and other PPE as required.
  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous foundry or industrial experience is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliability.
  • Must be eligible for and maintain USW union membership.
