Our partner is seeking a Community Associate in Portland, OR, to contribute to integrated housing, healthcare, and employment services with the goal of eliminating homelessness. The Community Associate is a vital member of the property management and supportive housing team, ensuring a comfortable and safe living environment for the Portland Eastside community.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively within an integrated team, maintaining and delivering comprehensive, person-centered services.
- Perform routine building cleaning, upkeep, and monitoring of building activities.
- Conduct room inventory, turnover, and routine pest control measures.
- Front desk-focused tasks, unit turns, and/or building cleanliness based on scheduled shift and priority.
- Identify and report pests, perform follow-up cleaning after treatments, and ensure a clean living environment.
- Greet and assist residents and visitors, answering queries, and providing information.
- Regularly clean and maintain common areas, lobby, hallways, bathrooms, and residential rooms.
- Conduct inspections of common areas and promptly report hazardous conditions or emergencies.
- Serve tenant notices, bulletins, and rent statements as assigned by Property Management.
- Assist new residents in becoming familiar with the community and available resources.
- Answer and direct telephone calls, take messages, deliver notices, and maintain files.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, enforce building visitor policies, and ensure overall security.
- Collect observed urinalyses as assigned and update lobby with health-related information.
- Remove ice and snow during inclement weather and inventory, label, and store tenant property.
- Report to other sites as directed and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in integrating services and identify opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or actively pursuing
- Previous experience with janitorial and resident service preferred
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email, basic file management)
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and cleaning
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Adherence drug-free workplace policies
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with diverse backgrounds
