Reporting to the VP/GM Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships Division (AMPD) the Associate Vice President (AVP), Business Development – Nucleic Acid Solutions Division is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for building, adjusting, and successfully executing on the company’s strategic direction. The commercial scope includes all processes and resources directed to accessing new business and maximizing outcomes from existing partner relationships, identifying and fortifying a strong competitive advantage through alignment of our service offerings, and executing on the go-to-market strategy for matching service offerings to the ever-changing needs of the marketplace and client base. Specifically, he / she will be responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives, expanding market presence, and forging key partnerships within the oligonucleotide-based therapeutics manufacturing space. This role will focus on contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) services, leveraging Agilent’s cutting-edge capabilities in nucleic acid synthesis, process development, and large-scale GMP manufacturing to support biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Commercial Strategy
Develop and execute a business growth strategy for Agilent’s Nucleic Acid Solutions Division, focusing on CDMO services for oligonucleotides, siRNA, mRNA, and gene editing therapeutics.
Identify, cultivate, and secure new business opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical companies developing nucleic acid-based therapies.
Lead deal negotiations, contract structuring, and strategic partnerships to drive revenue growth.
Work closely with Operations and Development teams to develop compelling value propositions for NASD’s nucleic acid manufacturing services.
Market Expansion & Customer Engagement
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique challenges in nucleic acid drug development and manufacturing.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in biotech, pharma, and emerging gene therapy companies.
Represent NASD at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to increase brand awareness and lead generation.
Monitor industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory developments to identify new business opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with product development, and manufacturing teams to align customer needs with NASD’s capabilities.
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop long-term commercial strategies and investment priorities.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the business development team, fostering a high-performance, customer-centric culture.
Financial & Performance Management
Meet and exceed sales targets, revenue goals, and key performance indicators (KSOs).
Develop business cases and financial models to support strategic investments in nucleic acid manufacturing capacity and technologies.
Track and report on market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive dynamics to refine go-to-market strategies.
Qualifications
10+ years of business development leadership experience in the CDMO, biopharmaceutical, or nucleic acid therapeutics industry.
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
Strong technical and commercial understanding of oligonucleotide synthesis, gRNA production, and nucleic acid drug development.
Proven track record of closing high-value deals, managing strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth.
Experience working with C-suite executives, biotech founders, and key industry stakeholders.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
