Velsera is seeking a talented and experienced Clinical Informaticist with knowledge of bioinformatics and genomics to lead solution development for clinico-genomic data systems. This role combines expertise in clinical data standards and interoperability with a strong background in bioinformatics to drive the integration of multi-modal healthcare data with multi-omic data sets to generate data-driven insights that accelerate drug discovery and lead to better patient care outcomes. The Clinical Informaticist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate clinical and genomic data, implement informatics solutions, and contribute to precision medicine initiatives.

Velsera is a ‘Remote Friendly’ company. The successful candidate for this position could be remote within the United States or Europe.

What will you do?

  • Clinical Data Standards and Interoperability: provide subject matter expertise and leadership to support product and engineering teams to develop systems for integration of clinical data from health systems, labs, and clinical trials with multi-omic data for life sciences research.
  • Data Modelling and Engineering: lead the development of data models for data exchange, ingest, query, and analytics.
  • Data Harmonization: for syntactic and semantic normalization of data from clinical data warehouses and electronic health records, applying vocabularies and ontologies.
  • Clinical Systems Analysis: Evaluate existing clinical systems and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and integration with bioinformatics data.
  • Informatics Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement informatics solutions that leverage both clinical and genomic data to support personalized medicine and enhance patient care delivery.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and genomic data to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Genomic Data Integration: Integrate genomic data from various sources into clinical workflows and decision-making processes to enable precision medicine approaches.
  • Clinical and Genomic Data Visualization: Develop visualizations and dashboards to facilitate the interpretation and communication of complex clinical and genomic data.
  • Workflow Optimization: Collaborate with clinical and bioinformatics teams to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency through the effective use of informatics tools.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and support to healthcare professionals and researchers on the use of informatics systems and bioinformatics tools.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and guidelines related to clinical and genomic informatics.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration between clinical, bioinformatics, and IT teams to achieve informatics goals and advance precision medicine initiatives.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of advancements in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, genomics, and related fields to drive innovation and improvement.

What do you bring to the table?

  • MD and/or PhD in Healthcare Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field with formal training in clinical informatics
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, or a related role in a healthcare or research setting.
  • Experience with clinical data standards development and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and genomic data analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and interpretation using tools such as SQL, Python, R,
