We are currently seeking an energetic Senior Accountant who is a self-starter, independent thinker, service oriented and thrives in a team environment. The Senior Accountant position is responsible for supporting all aspects of financial management, including product costing, financial reporting, month-end close, providing audit support, financial analysis and project work.
This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in month-end closing process and prepare/review journal entries for accuracy.
• Assist in efforts to improve existing ERP and accounting systems including the implementation of detailed product costing solution.
• Responsible for the consistent application of transfer pricing accounting methods for intercompany product sales.
• Assist in the preparation, review and distribution of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules to Operations and Senior Management.
• Assist in overseeing international accounting operations and compliance in connection with foreign subsidiaries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts between multiple systems and perform analytical reviews of monthly activity.
• Assist with the coordination and preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
• Coordinate requests from internal and external auditors.
• Identify opportunities to drive continuous process improvement for efficiency gains.
• Execute internal controls and support internal control improvements.
• Work with consulting/accounting firms in foreign countries who assist Matrix in accounting and tax compliance in these jurisdictions.
• Other projects as assigned by Management.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time.
Qualifications & Competencies
• Professional Accounting Certifications preferred (CMA, CPA or CPA eligible)
• Advanced knowledge or previous experience with NetSuite or Oracle applications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Five or more years of audit or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures
• Dependable and detail orientated with good communication skills
• Ability to work and interact with senior management and serve other departments
• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to understand and assimilate to accounting and financial systems
• Ability to make decisions and work independently
• Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and problem solve
