Eliminate toil.</p> <p>We are looking for a <strong>Senior Software Engineer with deep experience building and operating data-intensive systems</strong> to join our Datastores team. This role is ideal for a backend engineer who has built and operated production systems that rely heavily on databases, caching layers, and data pipelines, and who is excited to deepen their expertise in scalable, cloud-native data infrastructure.</p> <p>You will work at the intersection of application engineering and data platform reliability - partnering with service teams to improve how data is stored, accessed, scaled, and observed across Peloton’s ecosystem.</p> <h3><strong>YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON</strong></h3> <p>You will:</p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and operate backend systems that rely on scalable and highly available data persistence layers.</li> <li>Partner with service teams to improve database design, query performance, and data modeling.</li> <li>Contribute to automation around infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform and Backstage.<br>Improve developer experience by building self-service tooling for databases and caching systems.</li> <li>Work on observability, performance insights, and autoscaling strategies for production datastores.</li> <li>Contribute to architectural decisions around multi-regional data persistence and global scalability.</li> </ul> <p>This role combines hands-on backend engineering with deep exposure to cloud data systems and platform reliability challenges.</p> <h3><strong>WHAT YOU BRING</strong></h3> <p>We’re looking for strong backend engineers who are “data-aligned” — meaning you’ve built systems where data performance, reliability, and modeling mattered.</p> <ul> <li>5+ years of software engineering experience building production backend systems.</li> <li>Strong experience with relational databases such as <strong>PostgreSQL or MySQL</strong>, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.</li> <li>Experience working with NoSQL datastores such as <strong>DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, or Memcache</strong>.</li> <li>Exposure to data pipelines, event-driven
