POSITION SUMMARYThe UNDERWRITING ASSISTANT is responsible for providing administrative support to Underwriting team, including monitoring email correspondence, and completing administrative tasks to expedite the underwriting process.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Data validation - ensure the proper new and renewal premium and loss data are provided for technical processing and underwriting pre-work.
- Document production - prepare policy documents, quotes, endorsements and invoices for Underwriter approval and liaise with brokers accordingly. Ensure production is timely and accurate.
- Provide support to the Underwriting management and staff and in the production of the same.
- Support the Sr. Underwriting Assistant in the follow up on pending renewal and new business, current quotes and outstanding documents.
- To enter, update and transfer key underwriting data in ALIS.
- Utilizes technology to compute rates and premiums for cancellations, verifies and transmits information and monitors renewals.
- Gathers and investigates background information to effectively assess the risk involved.
- Services all accounts, including resolving agents’ inquires, complaints, requests and policy processing.
BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
- 1 year minimum industry experience (Required)
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Required)

- Mastery of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail, is dependable and follows through.
- Ability to read and interpret information.
