We have an excellent opportunity for a branch Sales Intern who is ready to grow their career with the leading company in the industry. You will learn the sales process by spending time in both inside and outside sales with a continuous focus on customer service excellence. You will leave this role with invaluable skills and industry knowledge with the goal of becoming a Sales Associate upon receipt of degree.
What you'll do (may vary by department):
Participation in safety training to ensure proper personal protective equipment is worn, safe handling of equipment, safety policies and procedures are adhered to, etc.
Participation in the operational efficiency of the branch work flow in the yard. This will include equipment check-in, washing of equipment, assisting customers, etc.
Shadowing of inside sales and outside sales positions to learn the roles and responsibilities of each and the importance United Rentals places on the focus of the customers.
Training on systems: RentalMan, Salesforce.com, etc.
Participation in departmental and cross-functional meetings, ride-alongs, work sessions, conference calls and webex meetings
Other duties assigned as needed
Requirements:
Prior relevant work experience preferred
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
Strong analytical and financial analysis skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments/project components simultaneously
Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
Self-motivated with a strong drive and sense of urgency
Must be currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in sales or related major

OPERATIONS SUPPORT INTERN -

As an Operations Support Intern you will receive hands-on experience supporting freight workflows, estimating processes, and project management activities. Interns will assist with non-decision-making tasks that improve accuracy, visibility, and efficiency across active and completed matting projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in logistics, operations, supply chain, or project coordination within a Fortune 500 environment.
What you’ll do:
- Follow up with freight vendors on missing BOLs, delivery documents, or required information.
- Assist with tracking vendor compliance including driver app usage, documentation accuracy, and performance criteria.
- Support the freight team with administrative tasks such as file organization, document uploads, and reporting support.
- Assist estimators with mat and freight planning for upcoming projects.
- Support data gathering and basic analysis used in mat/freight cost planning.
- Complete project-level analyses and summaries to support estimating accuracy.
- Assist with project reconciles and project closeout activities.
- Enter and update project returns in UR Mat Tracker (URMT).
- Follow up with mat vendors on prefab tickets and gather missing documentation.
- Obtain status updates from freight vendors related to active jobs.
- Update project post-mortem analyses and contribute to lessons-learned documentation.
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to billing documentation or inventory records.
- Support organization and accuracy of all project files and supporting documents.
- Complete non-decision-making administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
- Attend team meetings and provide updates on assigned work.
- Maintain accuracy in documentation, data entry, and digital file organization.
- Uphold all United Rentals safety, conduct, and confidentiality standards.
Requirements:
- Pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability
