Job Description
As a valued colleague on our team, you will collaborate with team in designing, producing, testing, or implementing moderately complex software, technology, or processes, as well as create and maintain IT architecture, large scale data stores, and cloud-based systems.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Senior Software Engineer - Java role will offer you a chance to make a visible impact to our critical Market Risk Platform, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- You will be designing and implementing the next generation of our Market Risk Platform which is used to manage a portfolio worth more than $100 billion.
- You will have an opportunity to redesign this critical system using latest and greatest cloud technologies.
- You will be developing complex distributed software using serverless technologies & event driven design patterns.
- You will be delivering well tested features in a fast-paced environment that practices Agile methodologies.
- You will be interacting with a variety of teams of widely distinct roles: Communicating to Financial Risk Managers regarding risk analysis and mitigation practices; Working with Enterprise Architects in determining best system design to meet peculiar business needs; Providing guidance to Production Operation Supports to preserve system stability and other relevant SRE measures.
- You will have chances to do proof-of-concepts (POC) based on your ideas and show case to the leadership team.
- On a typical day, you will find yourself brainstorming with peer developers over a puzzling issue, coding on a decent feature or utility package, troubleshooting a production failure, or working with other stakeholders to progress a process.
- Design and develop complex software solutions to meet business’ evolving needs and sharpen your creative problem-solving skills.
- Use a process-driven approach in designing and developing solutions.
- Implement new software technology and coordinate end-to-end tasks across the team.
- Maintain existing software with enhancements and defect fixes.
Qualifications
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences:
- 2 years experience
- Expert knowledge in JAVA, SQL, GIT and Maven/Gradle
- Experience in using following Java open-source framework or libraries
- Spring framework (including spring cloud), Hibernate
- Apache Commons, HTTP Client, HTTP Core, Xerces
- Log4j, SLF4j, Jackson
- AWS-SDK
- AWS technology skills (2+ years)
- AWS EC2, Elastic Load Balancer, AWS ECS, AWS Batch, AWS Lambda, AWS RDS and AWS S3, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, AWS Step Functions
- AWS CodeCommit, CodePipeline, AMI for Docker, ECR
- AWS CLI, AWS IAM
- Exposure to unit test frameworks
- JUnit, Mockito
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and well in teams
Desired Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or science related fields
- Experience with Docker, Angular (or React)
- Amazon DynamoDB
- Practical knowledge of SRE, Splunk
Skills
- Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages: Java, etc.
- Skilled in cloud technologies offered by AWS
- Experience using software architectural principles to integrate enterprise software applications and frameworks
