Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Water Library supports the Aquatic Sciences Center and its two institutes: UW Sea Grant Institute and the Wisconsin Water Resources Institute. Both support multidisciplinary research, education and outreach for the protection and sustainable use of Wisconsin's water resources.Anticipated Start Date:

Demonstrated ability to work with others.Initiative, flexibility and creativity.
Coursework in Library and Information Studies is highly desirable but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience working with ALMA desired.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Library Assistant will participate fully in all aspects library operations and will participate in one or more special project(s) that supports the outreach mission of the Wisconsin Water Library.
Regular duties may include but are not limited to:
• Management library circulation, including shelving and shifting of collection.
• Updates to library website in WordPress
• Updates to library’s research guide
• Copy cataloging of new library materials
Special project work will be chosen based on the skills and interests of the candidate for furthering their career path in librarianship. There are opportunities for a project in youth programming, cataloging and digital collections.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work for several hours per day on a computer.
