Job Summary

Working as the HR Generalist, your primary focus will be to support the Human Resources function so that it meets both the needs of the business and of our associates. The HR Generalist will take the lead role in all of the following functional areas: associate relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, development and revision of HR policies and procedures, associate engagement survey action plan follow up, performance and merit increase monitoring, hiring non-exempt associates and managing data associated with bonus administration. 

Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all Company HR-related policies are applied consistently.
  • Objectively coaches associates and management through complex and difficult issues; provides guidance on appropriate disciplinary action and assists with on-site investigations.
  • Oversees hourly recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • Supports positive labor relations, including maintaining effective communication with union representatives and fostering a collaborative working environment, where applicable.
    • Partners with operations and labor relations to administer collective bargaining agreements (CBA), ensuring consistent application of policies, work rules, and contract provisions.
    • Manages and supports the grievance process, including investigation, documentation, and participation in grievance meetings, ensuring timely and compliant resolution.
    • Provides guidance to management on union-related matters, including discipline, attendance, and contract interpretation, to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
  • Regularly runs and/or reviews HR activity reports.
  • Supports internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation and feedback processes.
  • Attends department manager meetings to increase HR visibility; conducts training, provides guidance, and implements HR initiatives.
  • Reviews requests for pay increases or other status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency; processes status change forms.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and presents HR-related topics and training.
  • Acts as a diversity champion by leading assigned tasks and corporate diversity initiatives, including recruiting, retention, and promotion efforts.
  • Assists in the creation of Personal Development Plans, as appropriate.
  • Participates in the annual performance appraisal process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience responding to common inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Three plus years of human resources generalist experience required; management experience a plus.
