About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE As the Senior Manager, Global Payroll, you'll be the cornerstone of our payroll operations, responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of payroll for our domestic and international employee base. This role will report to the VP, Finance Transformation & Technology and is based at our headquarters in New York City. You'll be a strategic leader in driving continuous improvement, leveraging technology, and establishing best practices across our global payroll ecosystem. This highly visible role serves as the primary subject matter expert and escalation point for all payroll-related matters, demanding exceptional attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to providing outstanding service to our employees and internal stakeholders.

YOUR IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Strategic Oversight & Operations: Oversee and optimize the accurate and timely processing of all domestic and international payrolls (bi-weekly, weekly, monthly, off-cycle) for a fast-paced global organization.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to all internal company policies, SOX requirements, and country-specific, federal, and state regulations, including wage and hour laws and taxation. Proactively identify, track, and resolve potential payroll-related issues and risks, escalating complex matters to senior management as needed.
  • Process Excellence & Automation: Lead initiatives to identify, develop, and implement process standardization, automation, and continuous improvements across global payroll operations, driving efficiency and scalability to support the company’s continued evolution.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary payroll liaison, collaborating closely with Accounting (for GL reporting and reconciliations), People Systems, Legal, and other internal partners to establish and maintain best practices for global payroll.
  • Systems & Integrations: Drive the project management for global payroll service implementations, system integrations (e.g., HRIS, time & attendance, equity platforms), and other related technology initiatives.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis, generate comprehensive payroll reports, and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making for the People and Finance teams on special projects aimed at streamlining processes and improving procedures.
  • Subject Matter Expertise & Escalation: Serve as the primary point of escalation and subject matter expert for all complex payroll inquiries, tax processing questions, and policy matters, providing timely and accurate resolutions.

WHAT YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive, hands-on payroll experience, with a strong emphasis on managing global payroll operations for multi-country organizations.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep and current knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations (including multi-state).
    • Extensive understanding of international payroll complexities, statutory requirements, and best practices.
    • Profound understanding of stock/equity compensation taxation, reporting, and disbursement.
    • Solid grasp of payroll accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Systems Acumen: Demonstrated expertise with ADP payroll systems (including large enterprise modules like ADP WorkForce Now, GlobalView, or Celergo) and a proven track record of successful payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Process Improvement Mindset: Proven ability to identify inefficiencies, drive process standardization, and implement automated solutions to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical capabilities with a keen eye for detail, coupled with strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex payroll scenarios and discrepancies.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders across all levels and functions in a global environment.
