Position Details

The department of Student Care and Advocacy at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Non-Clinical Case Manager. Reporting to the director of Student Care and Advocacy, the Non Clinical Case Manager contributes to the work of Operations and Planning by outreach and support to students in distress and working collaboratively across the UTampa campus and in the Tampa community.  Working through the Spartan Support Program, student support is accomplished through campus and community collaboration which may include assessment, triage, recommendation and utilization of resources, and individual planning and monitoring.

This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions. 

Responsibilities 

•    Participate in the Spartan Support Program by maintaining a caseload as a non-clinical case manager for students who are struggling with adjustment and psychosocial issues in the higher education environment 
•    Provide options and guidance to students covering academic, social, career, life transition, and related issues, making appropriate referrals as needed 
•    Design follow up plans by actively engaging other student affairs staff, department heads, and faculty, and by helping to highlight and resolve items related to academic considerations during hospitalizations. Communicate next steps with families, staff, department heads, faculty and staff as necessary
•    Maintain internal and external referral systems for tutoring, mentoring, financial management, counseling, and health services 
•    Coordinate with existing campus services, including Academic Advising, Student Accessibility Services, Campus Safety, Health and Counseling Services, Student Affairs, etc. to ensure students are aware of and are utilizing available services and programming
•     Serve as a resource for University Title IX efforts and provide relevant information and support  
•    Identify emerging concerns, trends, and issues for current student and provide relevant education, programming, and outreach for the campus community 
•    Determine areas of need and develop and implement early intervention programs, seminars, present student workshops, and related activities designed to address these needs in cooperation with the First Year Experience program 
•    Cross training required to assist with victim advocacy  
•    Create and execute an assessment schedule that provides for continuous improvement within the areas of responsibility 
•    Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all related technical applications, software, and programs 
•    To anonymously report all campus crimes, as defined by the federal Jeanne Clery Act, as a Campus Security Authority 
•    Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds 
 
Qualifications 
•    Bachelor’s degree in counseling, sociology, education, or related field required, Masters preferred  
•    Experience working in higher education in at least two of the following areas: emergency response, crisis management, residence life, counseling, case management, student conduct, and/or meditation 
•    Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff members as well as collaborative community partners 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills 
•    Demonstrated ability to mediate and problem solve 
•    Commitment to the education and development of the whole student 
•    Willingness to work a flexible schedule 
•    Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Advocate, and Microsoft Office  
•     Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices
