Summary:

Keuka College is seeking a faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Criminology/Criminal Justice for the 2025/206 Academic year. This faculty position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses offered through the traditional campus as well as in the Adult and Online Education (AOE) format. The teaching load for this position is 24-credits annually, with the possibility of a course release for additional administrative duties. This candidate will have expertise and teaching experience in the criminal justice system. Keuka College recently reorganized and has housed the Criminal Justice program within the thriving Social Work Division with both intentionality and synergistic aspirations. The successful candidate will be able to realize the full potential of this programmatic collocation and build modern programing and curricular structures to successfully span the disciplines. 

The successful candidate will be an equity-minded scholar with demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to create an environment for collaboration in an inter professional division. The candidate will have the responsibility to reimagine the curriculum with a responsive focus on current trends and research in social and restorative justice to promote and contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Working in collaboration with the Division Chair, Dean of the School of Health and Human Services, faculty, and staff, the candidate will create opportunities for inter professional collaboration and will support and enhance teaching effectiveness, scholarship and research, student success, and community outreach.


Essential Responsibilities:

Modernize the Criminal Justice curriculum with a focus on current research and trends in the field, with particular attention to social and restorative justice. 

Teach Criminology/Criminal Justice courses to undergraduates for both the traditional campus programs as well as evening, online, and hybrid courses, requiring excellence in teaching in an online delivery format.

Maintain a classroom environment that affirms a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and demonstrates an understanding of historically disadvantaged populations and awareness of cultural relevance.

Serve as an advisor to students/cohorts in Criminology/Criminal Justice.

Support ongoing curriculum review, assessment, programmatic revisions, and updates.

Contribute to the College and the community.

Demonstrate an active research/scholarly activity in the field of Criminology/Criminal Justice

Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching.

Work with the Division Chair, the Dean of the School of Health and Human Services, and other college leadership in the recruitment of students.

Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.

Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.

Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.

Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.

Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

Perform other functions as assigned by management.

  

Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting of boxes, supplies, etc., generally less than 30 lbs.

Some evening and weekend hours required

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD      in Criminology, Criminal      Justice, or closely related field from a regionally accredited      institution. ABD’s will be considered if the requirements for the PhD are      completed by the starting date of the position. 
  • Prior      work experience in the field of Criminal Justice, or closely related experience.
  • The potential to demonstrate      excellence in undergraduate teaching, with experience teaching in online      delivery formats.
  • Dedication to pursuit of scholarly interests in collaboration      with undergraduate students. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete      confidentiality at all times. 
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of      students,
