Duke University Health System- Certified Medical Assistant-Duke Primary Care- Raleigh Region Float  seeks to hire a Certified Medical Assistant who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

 

Department Profile:

Duke Primary Care- Raleigh Region, located in Raleigh, includes seven full-service primary care practices dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages. Our experienced team includes family medicine providers who specialize in adult care and pediatric care focused on ensuring the health and well-being of all patients. We offer a variety of services, including annual physicals for maintaining overall wellness, preventive care visits for early detection and health issue prevention, tailored physical exams for work, school, or sports, and prompt acute illness visits for minor injuries and illnesses.

 

Clinic Location and Hours:

Open 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday (Float CMA for Wake County) 

40 Hours Week +Pay Mileage

CMA will be assigned to clinic with greatest need based on CMA staffing level percentages

Job Summary:

Duke Primary Care- Raleigh Region Float, will be responsible for floating to clinics within Wake County, to help support the clinics with various administrative and clinical dutites. Located in Raleigh, is a full-service primary care practice dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages. Our experienced team includes family medicine providers who specialize in adult care and pediatric care focused on ensuring the health and well-being of all patients. We offer a variety of services, including annual physicals for maintaining overall wellness, preventive care visits for early detection and health issue prevention, tailored physical exams for work, school, or sports, and prompt acute illness visits for minor injuries and illnesses.

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Answer telephones
  • Greet patients
  • Update and file patient medical records
  • Fill out insurance forms
  • Handle correspondence
  • Schedule appointments
  • Arrange for hospital admissions
  • Arrange for laboratory services
  • Handle billing and bookkeeping 

 

Clinical Duties:

  • Assist medical and nursing staff in a variety of tasks including:
  • Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting the physician during the examination and procedures
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies Sterilize medical instruments.
  • Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
  • Authorize drug refills as directed Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Draw blood
  • Prepare patients for x-rays, tests and procedures
  • Take electrocardiograms Remove sutures/ staples
  • CMA will be expected to work in the rooming and laboratory roles, as assigned
  • Change sterile and non-sterile dressings
