Job Description

The Surface Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a AVP, Texas Flood & Stormwater Team Lead for our Texas Water Resources Group. The group specializes in modeling and floodplain analysis, resilience planning, stormwater management, dam safety, ecosystem and stream restoration and civil design to support flood management and mitigation projects across the state of Texas and beyond.

 

The preferred location for this position is in Austin, TX, with flexibility for candidates located in San Antonio, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, or El Paso. This is a hybrid role, with the possibility of some work being performed remotely.

The preferred candidate will be a recognized expert in Hydrologic & Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and engineering design with experience leading teams across a range of projects. This individual will serve as an innovative and highly skilled technical leader, responsible for guiding project delivery, providing oversight and management, and driving strategic growth for large, complex projects serving local, state, and federal clients across Texas and the and the Gulf Coast region. Projects may include H&H to inform flood risk analyses and resilience, stormwater master planning, transportation drainage infrastructure, dam safety evaluations, stream and ecosystem restoration, and other water resources planning and design initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), Texas General Land Office (GLO), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and local municipalities throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast region.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • As a technical leader, provide subject matter expertise on a range of flood and stormwater projects.
  • Business development including leading major pursuits to win new work.
  • Maintain and grow strong relationships with key clients to position AECOM for future opportunities.
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams and support successful project delivery.
  • Serve as a thought leader across the Texas water resources industry.
  • Promote collaboration and professional growth, ensuring alignment with AECOM’s culture and values.
  • Support coordination across Texas and the Gulf Coast region, while collaborating with other AECOM offices nationally.
  • Partner with regional leadership on strategic initiatives, proposal development, and client outreach.
