This position contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago (“BZC”) by ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of BZC’s data systems. This role supports BZC’s commitment to a Sustainable Future by safeguarding digital assets and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Additionally, this position enhances the Extraordinary Guest Experience by protecting sensitive guest information and maintaining secure digital platforms.
This is a non-union, fulltime, salaried position, grade 10, with a hiring range of $89,583 to $98,542. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. *Monitor and analyze network traffic and cybersecurity metrics, patterns, and indicators to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
2. *Collaborate with other IT staff to maintain and manage data security tools, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
3. *Develop and implement data protection strategies, including account hygiene, encryption, and access control policies.
4. *Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
5. *Collaborate with cross-functional teams to respond to security incidents and mitigate risks.
6. *Maintain documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
7. Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or four years’ equivalent relevant experience. High school diploma or educational equivalent (e.g., GED) required.
• Three years’ experience in data security, network security, or information security analysis.
• Proficiency with security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
• Knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Cultural competency; experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
• English fluency at a professional working proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license required at time of hire. Illinois residents must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license or obtain one within 90 days of hire. Valid out-of-state driver’s license is required for out-of-state residents.
DESIRABLE/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA Security+ preferred.
• Experience with cloud security and data protection in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
• Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.

Immediately report to the VP of Information Technology any activity or request for application or security updates, modifications, or unauthorized access in the IT environment that may violate current BZC policy, particularly as it relates to electronic communication or confidential information or loss or breach of personally identifiable information.
