Junior Buyer

We are currently seeking to fill our junior buyer position. This position plays a critical role in our manufacturing operation, by ensuring materials and parts are available in time to meet production schedules, expediting orders to accommodate schedule changes, and proactively communicating with vendors to stay on schedule. As you build relationships with your internal customers and outside vendors, you will collaborate with your partners to find mutually beneficial solutions to our procurement needs.

As a junior buyer you will be actively engaged with our powder coat, silkscreen, electroplating, and machining vendors to bring finished parts to the assembly lines in time to fulfill our commitments to our customers. As you settle into the role, you will gain an understanding of the processes and capabilities of each outside process vendor and be equipped to work with the vendor to best serve the interests on both sides.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Regularly review purchasing and subcontracting requirements and prioritize according to master schedule
• Request quotes and issue purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, shop/office supplies, and outside processing
• Track and expedite open orders to ensure delivery in time to meet manufacturing schedule
• Verify receipt of outside processing orders, and work with vendors to resolve shortages or discrepancies against original purchase order
• Complete receiving process in ERP for outside processing orders
• Update vendor, product, and subcontracting information in ERP system
• Participate in MRB, and the purchasing processes that include vendor, shipping, production, and accounting

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in our Cerritos, CA office. Starting pay range for our Junior Buyer is $18.00 to $21.00 per hour. This is a fully on-site position.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will meet the following minimum requirements:

• Minimum one year Purchasing experience; experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Read, write, and speak fluent English; bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required
• Able to prioritize work according to production schedules and vendor lead times
• Experience working with an ERP system
• Work well with minimal supervision
• Able to think proactively and provide solutions to anticipated issues
• Reliable transportation
• Strong desire to learn and grow in the purchasing field
