EMPLOYMENT
TERM:                                   The season of the sport
 
SALARY:                               In accordance with the Coaches Salary Schedule approved by the Hampshire County Board of
                                                Education
 
EVALUATION:                    Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and
                                                in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation                                           Policies 3220.02 and 4220.01
 
JOB SUMMARY:               Provide appropriate instruction to students athletes in the assigned sport; Plan, organize, and
                                                schedule a regular program of practices and games
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach or hold a WV coaching authorization; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; experience as a participant or coach of the sport; first aid and CPR training certificate required; other qualifications as determined by WVDE< WVSSAC, and school administrator

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the head coach in the development of his/her particular sport and the overall total athletic program
  • Fulfill all responsibilities assigned by the head coach with the approval of the athletic administrator and principal
  • Assume the responsibility of the head coach when necessary
  • Assist in fundraising activities and events for the total athletic program
  • Assume duties of collecting tickets for various athletic events as scheduled by the athletic administrator
  • Assume duties of working in concession stand and/or secure personnel from their sport to work
  • Follow all WVSSAC rules, as well as school, county, state, and federal guidelines
  • Follow athletic manual and head coaches' rules
  • Attend booster meetings if head coach cannot attend
  • Motivate players and parents toward a positive, desired goal of achieving success
  • Keep informed of the academic progress of student athletes on the team during the season
  • Maintain and prepare for use of equipment, and practice and games areas with concern for the safety of the student athletes
  • Prepare a detailed equipment inventory and supply request list as directed by head coach
  • Attend parent meetings with head coach before the season
  • Develop positive relationships with:  the students, faculty, parents, community, game officials, the media, and the opponents
  • Command respond by example in appearance, manners, behavior, and language on the field, floor, pool, links or playing court, and in public
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the head coach, principal, and/or athletic administrator
