The Tasmanian Government is centralising the capital works and infrastructure delivery of agencies into a single new department called Building Tasmania. This transition shifts major project management, governance, and procurement away from individual departments to streamline building execution. The Capital Works team has been identified as part of the workforce and functions transitioning to Building Tasmania.
The Team
Facility Services provides specialised services, support and advice in relation to DECYP's infrastructure and property, vehicle fleet and procurement. We operate statewide and are divided into five workstreams that offer the following services Asset Management and Planning, Business Services, Capital Works, Facility Operations and Stakeholder Engagement.
About the Role
As the Capital Project Manager you will:
- Prepare high level recommendations, submissions, reports.
- Manage the procurement process for Consultants and Contractors for assigned projects.
- Guide Consultants through the design process as required by DECYP.
- Oversee the construction process on assigned projects as a Client Representative.
- Manage and report on project specific milestones and timeframes.
- Manage budgets and authorise payments for Consultants and Contractors.
- Liaison, coordination and engagement with key stakeholders in assigned projects to maintain site specific needs and operational requirements.
About You

Demonstrated experience in delivering capital projects and achieving successful outcomes, within a diverse and multi-disciplinary organisation.

Proven experience managing timeframes and financial budgets in the construction industry environment.

Strong leadership, project management and problem-solving skills.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation abilities.

Strategic, adaptable and results-driven, with the ability to manage complex priorities.

- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation and/or relevant academic qualifications.
