Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Quality Systems Engineer to join their team.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will oversee the design, fabrication, and testing of novel implantable medical devices. You will work with faculty, staff, and students at CMU and in partnership with external groups to ensure that devices are developed in compliance with applicable regulatory standards and such other tasks that are assigned to you

Core Responsibilities:

  • Development, implementation, maintenance, and improvements to compliance of applicable regulatory requirements by maintaining an effective quality management system
  • Provide support to internal functions in the application, maintenance and improvement of quality systems, procedures, and department specific processes.
  • Provides maintenance and administration of Quality Systems tools.
  • Ensure efficient and effective processes and tools are established for compliance with ISO and other standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate the communication and review of quality data in Management Review and other forums.
  • Gather and organize information from the research team
  • Lead various activities throughout the design and verification process
  • Able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent documentation skills and strong attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience is required
  • Experience working in an academic research environment on bioelectronic medical devices required.
  • Experience designing, documenting, and testing novel bioelectronic devices required.
  • Experience writing and testing software for embedded systems required
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
