Job Description

**This is a full time salaried position located at Lake Forest Hospital. **

The Electrical Supervisor reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • I. Responsible for electrical work performed throughout the hospital, grounds and satellite facilities.
    • Supervises repair of electrical work performed on all non-patient related equipment.
    • Supervises electrical installation of new equipment.
    • Directs department employees in proper performance of electrical testing.
    • Monitors and observes electrical work performed by outside contractor for compliance with hospital standards.
  • II. Responsible for the supervision of assigned employees.
    • Supervises work performed to assure it conforms with established procedures, policies and regulations.
    • Assures that the Electrical department operates with the basic philosophy of S.P.I.R.I.T.E.D. Service.  Maintains a strong customer service focus where customer satisfaction is always considered thoroughly before making any decisions in the Electrical Department.
  • III. Responsible for installation of new electrical related projects.
    • Develops electrical layouts and design.
    • Lists and orders material that will be needed on projects.
    • Ensures that electrical codes and standards are met on all installations of all equipment.
  • IV. Responsible for maintaining electrical safety throughout the hospital.
    • Performs electrical safety tests for conformity with regulatory code.
    • Performs testing and documentation of emergency electrical system and generators in conformance with regulatory agencies.
    • Inspects and tests electrical appliances used throughout the hospital when brought to facility and scheduled intervals thereafter.
    • Instructs employees in proper safety while working with electrical equipment.
    • Monitors departmental quality control indicators and reports problems.
  • V. Responsible for responding to fire and disaster alarms.
    • Responds to all fire and disaster alarms.
    • Instructs subordinates in their role in the event of a fire or disaster alarm.
  • VI. Responsible for performing other related duties and special projects as requested by the Vice President of Facilities & Systems Management.
    • Keeps current regarding code requirements and changes in local, state and federal regulations.
    • Participates on committees as requested by Director.
    • Stays abreast of changing technology, and current regarding energy conservation, legal issues and other areas of concern affecting plant operations.
    • Remains current on NFPA Codes dealing with fire alarm systems and Life Safety.
    • Responsible for providing response to emergency situations on-call

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have worked as a journeyman electrician for a minimum of five years and have supervisory experience for three years. Experience in a hospital is desirable.
  • 4 years of undergraduate education or four additional years of relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction drawings, wiring diagrams and schematic diagrams.
