Senior DB2 Systems Programmer (Fully Remote)

The Senior DB2 Systems Programmer will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 database systems on [specify platform, e.g., z/OS mainframe]. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DB2 systems programming and be adept at troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ensuring the integrity and security of our database environment. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support high-availability, mission-critical applications.
This position is a 6 month contract to hire
Due to Government Contract and the requirement to obtaining a US Security Clearance, all viable candidates must be US Citizens

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 software.
• Manage DB2 system performance by tuning and optimizing database and SQL queries.
• Monitor and maintain database health, including backup and recovery processes, to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Develop and implement security protocols to safeguard data and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues related to performance, capacity, and connectivity.
• Work closely with application developers to assist in database design, query optimization, and debugging.
• Plan and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Document database processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, developing and implementing preventive measures.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior DB2 administrators and systems programmers as needed.
