Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Scientist with expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology to join our vibrant, interdisciplinary research team focused on uncovering the risk factors, prevention strategies, and prognostic markers of cancers diagnosed in younger adults.

The ideal candidate will have strong computational skills and experience in leading and interpreting large-scale multi-omics studies. A track record in cancer research is preferred, but not required. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research in a highly collaborative environment, working alongside experts in epidemiology, clinical medicine, chemistry, computational and molecular biology, bioinformatics, and system science. We are especially eager to work with scientists who are passionate about infrastructure development—particularly those committed to building resources that empower and advance the research community.

Designs research protocols. Assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis and documentation of experiment results.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead data analytics for large-scale genomics and multi-omics projects funded through interdisciplinary team science initiatives such as Cancer Grand Challenges.
• Develop and implement innovative and scalable workflows for data management, including data processing, harmonization, integration, and secure sharing across diverse platforms and research teams.
• Drive interdisciplinary collaborations by leading scientific reporting and meetings, identifying resources, and managing project timelines.
• Work with PI and collaborators to develop study protocols, refine analytical strategies, and support grant and manuscript development.
• Contribute to mentoring trainees across various disciplines who are motivated to become next generation leaders in clinical research.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
• Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

$48,000.00 - $86,900.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
