Staff Accountant

The accountant supports the financial management and operations of the credit union through maintenance of accounting records and reports. Performs a variety of routine and some nonroutine clerical/accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures. Reconciles and balances general or subsidiary ledgers. Contacts other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems. Ensures that all accounting entries and reports are completed on a timely and accurate basis; ensures completeness and accuracy of account reconciliations; and ensures compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Prepares daily entries, monitors account balances, and maintains supporting records and files
• Process accounts payable
• Reviews, monitors, reconciles assigned accounts accurately and in a timely manner, and reports discrepancies to the CFO
• Assumes a shared responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records
• Maintains all assigned accounting records and performs all related accounting functions
• Maintains & balances subsidiary ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
• Assists with monthly ALM reporting
• Assists with month end reports
• Creates and submits confidential employee reports, and implements processes to ensure financial integrity
• Coordinates and oversees the scheduling of monthly branch audits and performs audits at least quarterly
• Comply with all department and credit union policies and procedures
• All other duties as assigned
