Overview
Coordinate psychosocial assessment and referrals for adolescent unit along with Clinical Social Worker on the floor.Lead impatient rounds on the adolescent unit twice a week, covering psychosocial issues relevant to adolescents for residents assigned to the service.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. - Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the BronxCare Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.
- Coordinate psychosocial assessment and referrals for adolescent unit along with Clinical Social Worker on the floor.
- Lead inpatient rounds on the adolescent unit twice a week, covering psychosocial issues relevant to adolescents for residents assigned to the service.
- Participates in interdisciplinary psychosocial rounds with Attending Physician, Clinical Social Worker, Residents assigned to the service and Chief Resident in Pediatrics.
- Consults with residents and attending physicians on issues such as substance abuse, difficult doctor-patient relationships and death and dying.
- Leads inpatient rounds once a week on a didactic topic such as performing a mental status examination, using the 5-axis diagnostic system and treatment modalities for depression disorder.
- Participates in interviewing resident applicants during interview season.
- Attend weekly faculty meetings.
- Coordinates Senior Seminar one hour a week for 2nd and 3rd year residents, covering a wide range of psychosocial topics.
- Participates in resident evaluations. When necessary, participates when residents require remediation, especially with psychosocial skills
- Videotapes residents in clinic and leads videotape review sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience in teaching and training preferred.
- Licensed Certified Social Worker
- Master’s in Social Work
- Doctorate in Psychology
