As a Prepress Technician joining the Quality and Engineering team, this role will bring a critical layer of support to our production and quality operations. They'll ensure that every file, workflow, and process meets the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.
The Prepress Technician will support prepress and workflow operations, ensuring that digital and print production processes are smooth and efficient. This role focuses on assisting senior team members with file handling, preflighting, and workflow optimization, while also able to influence manufacturing processes and customization methods.
The ideal candidate for the Prepress Technician role is a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional eager to support prepress and workflow operations. With a foundational understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and prepress software like PitStop Pro or PDFToolbox, they possess the ability to prepare, troubleshoot, and optimize print files, ensuring quality and accuracy in areas such as resolution, bleed, and color management. Their knowledge of print processes and varying customization methods paired with awareness of color spaces, file formats, and bindery operations, positions them as a highly versatile contributor to the team.
Additionally, they will support software administration, product setup, and cross-functional collaboration to align production workflows with manufacturing systems. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn new technologies, such as RIP software, variable data printing, or CAD tools, will enable them to grow in this role and contribute to continuous workflow improvement.

Responsibilities

  • File Handling and Workflow Support:
  • Assist in configuring and managing automated file workflows using various preflighting and workflow automation software, such as pitstop pro, enfocus switch, PDF toolbox
  • Support manual and automated quality control processes for diverse product categories across printed materials and branded merchandise.
  • Software Administration and Support:
  • Support day-to-day management and administration of products, SKUs, and attributes in separate manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product mapping between eCommerce platforms and production workflows.
  • Workflow Support
  • Prepare and process digital files for printing, ensuring accuracy in imposition, variable data setup, and file preflighting.
  • Test and evaluate various paper stocks, coatings, and finishes to optimize printing quality and product performance.
  • Troubleshoot prepress issues, including file errors and color inconsistencies, and resolve them effectively.
  • Assist with setting up and managing production workflows for new products, including creating die lines and configuring print specifications.
  • New Product expansion and equipment testing:
  • Test and evaluate different customization techniques, including printing, engraving, embroidery, and etching, on a variety of materials.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure customization methods align with product and brand requirements.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to source materials and tools that support new and innovative customization methods.
  • Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Support cross-functional teams, including Customer service, creative and Manufacturing to support file and production workflows.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for color management.

About You

  • Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Familiarity with prepress software tools like PitStop Pro, PDFToolbox, or other preflight tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic color-related issues in print files and workflows
  • Maintain color reference materials such as swatch books, test charts, and digital color standards
  • Knowledge of file preparation processes such as imposition, color management, and preflighting
  • Understanding of print file formats (PDF, EPS, TIFF) and resolution requirements
