A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You will support an interdisciplinary team as the technical lead to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure design in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. Your role as technical lead will include the use of civil engineering design software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD) as well as the training of younger staff. You will manage projects through concept development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and construction management. You will help develop construction documents; and ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.

You will be at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, delivering project ideas from concept to construction. You take part in stakeholder and public outreach, developing feasibility studies and concept plans, and preparing construction documents for innovative projects throughout the country. You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our Southeast and North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve!
