Correctional Health Services, one of the largest county jail healthcare systems, is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric NP) or a Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psychiatric PA) for an exciting opportunity to work with incarcerated individuals. The Psychiatric NP or PA will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide integrated health care to patients navigating the judicial system. A Psychatric NP or PA working within CHS has the opportunity to impact people when they are at their most difficult times, giving the Psychiatric NP or PA a unique ability to make substantial positive changes in the lives of incarcerated individuals, their families, and the community.

We Require

  • One year of psychiatric or corrections experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited school of nursing and a valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing OR Graduate of a Master of Physician Assistant program and completion of an accredited physician assistant program with a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona issued by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants

Job Contributions

  • Evaluates new admissions to reach a diagnosis and treat identified mental illness

  • Re-evaluates patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicated

  • Prescribes medications following the CHS Pharmacy Formulary and within FDA guidelines

  • Documents evaluation, treatment, and other patient interactions clearly and thoroughly, and in compliance with licensure and accreditation requirements

  • Provides orders for emergency intervention (therapeutic restraints and/or emergency medications) when necessary for patient safety.
