Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering 2 - Guidance, Navigation, & Control.  This position is for a Functional Homeroom manager for a GNC section at the Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA site.

 

The selected candidate will provide functional homeroom management as part of a team of GNC engineers on restricted programs.  The functional homeroom manager duties typically account for 20% of the workload. 

 

Essential Functions of the GNC Section Manager (20%):

  • Lead team of 10-12 engineers, including college and high school interns

  • Provide personnel with career development, employee engagement, mentoring, and coaching

  • Coordinate with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance evaluations to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees, and counseling employees on their performance as necessary

  • Develop and improve personnel and organizational technical skills

  • Work with Human Resources to mediate and resolve personnel issues

  • Ensure process alignment through the work of direct reports, support program milestone reviews and deep dives, and assist in development and implementation of division objectives

  • Work closely with managers of other engineering disciplines, program managers, and IPT leads

  • Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the division and sector

  • You should demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.

  • Demonstrate abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.

  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills are required.

 

This position reports directly to the Vehicle Engineering and Survivability Department Manager in the Engineering Integration & Execution organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience OR a Master’s Degree with 7 years of related experience

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the program to meet business needs

  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access.  This Special Program Access must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the program to me
