Requisition Summary

As an After Sales Technical Publication Specialist, you will support PACCAR in technical writing, publishing, and maintaining content for a global audience. You will collaborate with Peterbilt engineers and global publication teams to deliver technical content that enhances user experience and increases vehicle uptime. You will play a key role in generating repair and maintenance information, operator manuals, programming guides, and other service information in print, PDF, and HTML formats. You will partner with our Technical Content Manager on user experience (UX) design, UI optimization, and to prepare Peterbilt’s technical literature for emerging technologies. You will also work closely with cross-divisional PACCAR teams to migrate existing content to a new global Repair and Maintenance Information (RMI) platform.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain accurate technical information that adheres to PACCAR style guidelines (technical writing)
  • Prepare technical information for PDF and web-based output
  • Coordinate with program teams to prepare content for emerging technologies
  • Partner with global PACCAR teams to ensure project alignment and timely content delivery
  • Assist in the maintenance of content delivery platforms
  • Assist in training team members on the Content Lifecycle System
  • Create, obtain, and analyze data and end user feedback reports for management and executive leadership
  • Willingness to work on-site in Denton, TX
  • Standard PACCAR travel up to 10%

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, including 1-3 years as a technical writer, technical communicator, UX designer, or in the automotive industry
  • Demonstrated interest in DITA, structured authoring systems, or modular writing systems (e.g., IXIASOFT, Empolis, XML Schema)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal guidance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a team player

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

  • BA/BS in English, technical communications, engineering (software or mechanical), or equivalent experience in the industry
  • Experience with XML content mapping, HTML output generation, stylesheet maintenance, UX design, or CMS/CLS migration
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components or a demonstrated desire to develop mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of Smartsheet
  • Experience working on agile projects or in Azure DevOps
