JOB SUMMARY
Burning Man is seeking an IT specialist for our Assets and Inventory team within Burning Man IT Operations. This role helps with deployment, operation and support of end user hardware in Black Rock City, the Burning Man event site.
This is a temporary, full-time, Exempt role, based in Black Rock City, Nevada running from August 8, 2026to September 9, 2026.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT
Resource Deployment (35%)
- Participate in user hardware installation, support, and administration, in Gerlach and Black Rock City pre-event, during event operations, and tear-down. Interface with other technology teams, staff and project leads as necessary
User Support (35%)
- Participate in on-call schedule and troubleshooting duties for on-playa support, before, during and after the event
Resource Allocation and Equipment Tracking (25%)
- Work directly, and closely with IT inventory team to implement solutions to organize and optimize resource allocation and equipment tracking for all operations and infrastructure needs for event production, operation and restoration.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
This role may require the employee to contribute to the growth of the Burning Man Project’s knowledge base. This may include such tasks as:
- Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
- Knowledge sharing – Help educate users and answer questions regarding the hardware and software tools they are using to achieve their objectives.
- Training development - Assist in the development of training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate would meet all the qualifications listed below. However, the ability to learn quickly is more important than in-depth knowledge in all areas.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; minimum of two years experience with IT support in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Mac and Windows systems
- Proficient with setup, installation and troubleshooting of printers, simple switches, and other peripheral devices
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality
- Ability to work in an often dusty, hot environment.
- Able to lift and carry computers and peripheral devices to and from work sites
- Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.

- IP network services (HTTP, DNS, DHCP, ping, etc.)
