Job Summary

The pediatric surgeon will diagnose and provide operative care for a variety of illnesses, diseases, and health conditions in young patients.

Essential Functions:
  • Examine young patients and diagnosing health issues for surgery. (20%)
  • Order preoperative tests and physical examinations and interpreting results. (10%)
  • Consult with patients and family members regarding diagnosis and treatment options. (20%)
  • Perform surgical procedures to correct deformations, congenital problems, injuries, or treat illnesses. (20%)
  • Collaborate and cooperating with all the specialists involved in a child's medical care to determine when or if surgery is an appropriate treatment option. (15%)
  • Monitor postoperative recovery and educating family members regarding postoperative care. (10%)
  • Comfort young patients before operations. (5%)

Education:
  • Doctorate Degree Medical degree from an accredited institution. Required

Work Experience:
  • less than 1 year Required

Licenses:
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Computer skills preferred.
