Are you someone who loves making others smile and finds purpose in meaningful moments? We’re looking for a warm and creative Activities Coordinator to join our team at Bupa Cashmere Care Home in Spreydon, Christchurch.
This is a Permanent Part-Time role.
Hours: 168 hours over 6 weeks (4 days on, 2 days off)
Shift Times: 9:30am – 4:00pm, 28 hours per week on average.

You will identify the leisure activities of each resident based on their interests’ preferences and abilities and coordinate an activities programme based on their needs. You will have a big impact on the quality of life for our residents by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation for our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of activities assistants, ensuring activities are well-coordinated, engaging, and aligned with residents’ needs.
- Manage activity plans for residents across this 103-bed care home, with rest home, dementia and hospital levels of care.
- Plan, develop, and lead individualised activity plans for each resident based on the activity assessment outcome, their interests, and preferences.
- Ensure our valuable residents are treated with full respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain personal and professional development - we have on-site managers who always encourage our staff to up-skill!
Skills and Qualification
To be successful in this role, you will enjoy a variety of work and have prior experience in this field, along with an interest in and understanding of the elderly and their needs.
- You’ll have a NZQA (or equivalent) Diversional Therapy (level 4) Certificate (or working towards a DT qualification)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferable.
- Have a creative flair to contribute towards a full and varied activities programme and help look after our residents while creating a caring atmosphere.
- You are a caring, team player, vibrant, and energetic, with an active interest in organising activities for multiple levels of function and ability.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- You will be required to drive the van for outings so a clean, full driver’s license is essential.
