Internship Program at WM

As a WM Intern, you will interact with and conduct various duties and responsibilities for one or more functional teams to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business. Interns gain practical experience, relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation. 

 
Job Summary:  
Digital – Cybersecurity Intern – Business Information Security Office (BISO) 

Intern will participate in BISO processes and tasks. The BISO team serves as the strategic bridge between cybersecurity and business units, ensuring security initiatives align with business objectives. The team provides risk advisory services, supports compliance efforts, and integrates security into business processes, product development, and digital transformation. The team identifies and mitigates security risks, enhances security awareness, and collaborates with stakeholders to socialize policies and controls. Additionally, they manage third-party risk management, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) assessment efforts while providing executive-level metrics and reporting on business-specific cybersecurity risks. 

Interns will participate in efforts across these functions including monthly metric and project reporting, third-party risk assessment tasks across cybersecurity initiatives, and participate in the creation of the BISO intranet website.  

Intern will also be introduced to other areas of cybersecurity including Operational Technology, Identity and Access Management; Governance, Risk and Compliance; and how Cybersecurity is aligned with our business partners including Operational Technology, Sustainability, and Corporate.  

Intern will be working directly with Senior Cybersecurity personnel and managers.  

This position will be located at Houston corporate headquarters with a standard 40-hour work week (Monday-Thursday: in office; Friday: Remote).  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location. 

  • Uses problem solving skills to determine problems and understand fundamental parts of the problem. 
  • Conducts analysis as directed and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis. 
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager. 
  • Executes tasks related to functional projects and/or process improvements. 
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
