POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Operational Excellence will be responsible for creating, implementing, and driving standardized supply chain processes and tools and enhancing operational efficiency at Five Below, including systems adoption. In addition to standardizing processes and tools, this role will have responsibility in owning and driving capacity planning, workforce planning, and shift structure planning. This role involves leading an operational excellence team that will be aligned by process path and have dotted line responsibility to distribution centers to ensure closed loop implementation and feedback. The Senior Manager will have responsibility for all process paths and must have extensive experience adopting Yard Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, and Labor Management Systems throughout all process paths. This role will focus heavily on driving the foundational processes and business requirements necessary to deploy Labor Management Systems successfully throughout the distribution network.
Position Location: Must be located near one of our 5 distribution centers (Indianapolis IN, Buckeye AZ, Forsyth GA, Pedricktown NJ, Conroe TX)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver standard outcomes in process design and implementation – inclusive of training, capacity planning, and workforce planning routines
- Lead, develop, and mentor group of Operational Excellence Managers to support identification and implementation of process opportunities that drive consistent execution across the Distribution network
- Develop near-term, ease of deployment process and system changes to enhance product flow and planning processes
- Accurately forecast capacity levels by process path utilizing resources to prevent or communicate future constraints
- Accurately forecast storage/ rack capacity to translate near term and long-term forecasts into physical capacity plans
- Accurately forecast staffing levels and resources to enable operations teams to achieve strategic goals
- Align workforce planning with business strategy and financials, including planning a workforce structure of Full-time, Part-time, and Temporary workforce to support our business strategy
- Create and maintain shift structures to better align with supply and demand, better manage resources, improve efficiencies, enhance customer service and increase profitability
- Project manage business requirements necessary to deploy successful processes and systems, inclusive of timelines, budgets, and resources
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating cooperation and support for process design and implementation, systems adoption, workforce planning, and capacity planning
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure process efficiency and productivity
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting performance trends and strategic recommendations
- Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovative process solutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years leading operational excellence, industrial engineering teams specifically within retail distribution network
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Proven track record of successful project management and process optimization
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI
- Experience implementing Labor Management Systems in a distribution network
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to extensively collaborate effectively with operations, systems, finance, and logistics teams
