Editorial Director, Portfolio Businesses and Affiliate Partnerships
USA TODAY NETWORK is seeking a strategic and creative Editorial Director, Portfolio Businesses and Affiliate Partnerships to drive the creation of high-performing CPC (cost-per-click) content and oversee the affiliate partnership approval process, and building an audience and creating content for our 10BEST brand. This role is ideal for an editorial professional with a passion for digital content, commerce, and partnership development. This person will collaborate with other development editors to shape our commerce content strategy, ensuring editorial excellence, and maximizing revenue opportunities through innovative affiliate collaborations.
This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska and Hawaii.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the creation, editing, and optimization of CPC-driven content across portfolio brands, ensuring alignment with editorial standards and audience needs.
• Oversee the Shopping affiliate partnership approval process, collaborating with business development and Shopping editorial teams to vet new and existing partner proposals.
• Work with SEO and analytics teams to develop and implement strategies to build 10BEST’s audience
• Pitch, write and assign 10BEST Interests features, covering themes like food, travel, home, entertainment and seasonal inspiration.
• Ensure all CPC and 10Best affiliate content is compliant with disclosure requirements, brand guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Serve as the primary editorial point of contact for affiliate partners, managing communications and approvals.
• Coordinate planning and strategy with other Development editors.
• Brainstorm and pilot new content formats and partnership models to expand reach and revenue.
• Mentor and guide freelance writers in best practices for commerce content and affiliate integration.
• Stay current on trends in affiliate marketing, digital publishing, and content monetization, bringing fresh ideas to the team.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a relatedfield (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience in digital content creation, editorial management, or affiliate marketing, with a strong portfolio of CPC or commerce-driven work.
• Demonstrated experience managing affiliate partnerships and/or content approval workflows.
• Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
• Strong understanding of SEO, analytics, and content performance metrics.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with content management systems, affiliate platforms, and analytics tools.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for digital media and commerce.
• Candidates should have facility with AI and automation and experience in using it to enhance their journalism.
