About the role:
We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor to join our Production team at our Gateway North Mine. Gateway North mine is an underground coal mine located in Coulterville, Illinois, just an hour outside St. Louis, Missouri. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It uses a continuous miner to extract the coal.

Reporting to the Manager of Production, this role will be responsible for the coordination of the operational activities of all aspects of the daily unit work of an underground coal mine to ensure the safe, economical and efficient operation of the operation area. This position will supervise, lead and train a group of equipment operators an support staff personnel in best practices for the safe operation of underground mining equipment. The supervisor will fill-in for Mine Manager to cover day's off and will also coordinate with mine management to minimize equipment downtime and maximize production. This position will work Monday-Friday, rotating every two weeks on a 3-shift rotation of midnights, afternoons, and days schedule. This position may also require the necessity to work weekends, holidays, or another shift as deemed necessary.
Duties will include:

- Supervise coal production and setup employees to perform tasks particular to underground mining.
- Perform mining functions such as gas checks and ventilation checks in an underground coal mine
- Work with reliability team to minimize downtime of mining equipment.
- Conduct proper examinations as required by State, Federal and Mine policy.
- Direct supervision and coaching of employees for effective performance management.
- Prepare shift reports for mine management.
- Identify potential improvements to the mining process.
- Promote safety among the workforce.
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the company.
The Lifestyle:

About you:
- Minimum 4 years' experience performing underground coal mining tasks.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Mine Examiner or Mine Manager certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
- Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist
