Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Process Control Engineer is responsible for delivering furnace and forehearth process control equipment, power distribution, software and electrical boosting to run the glass making furnaces and glass conditioning equipment.  The engineer will lead all phases including scoping, design, procurement and installation and will assist in the start-up of the production.  Besides project assignment, the engineer will contribute to the company technical standards definition and will ensure their application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Control Engineer will be responsible for the scoping, design development, installation specification definition, installation follow-up of all electrical and process controls items needed for operation
  • Engineering and design of Melter/Refiner/Forehearth instrumentation equipment
  • Engineering and design of Melter/Refiner/Forehearth process control system
  • Engineering and design of Melter electrical boosting equipment including cabling, control system, and power distribution
  • Coordination of external engineering support as required for projects
  • Provide proper field assistance throughout construction, heat-up, and ramp-up.
  • The engineer will partner with the refractory/structural and mechanical engineers for collaborative design of all project scope as needed.  
  • Close out project deliverables, including as-builts, and Windchill database documentation.
  • Lessons learned follow-up information exchange with project team and all other business touchpoints to have ownership of key deliverables to update databases for cost estimates, engineering fundamentals improvements, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT for all cyber security functions and ensure proper remote assistance has been coordinated and functioning across all Melting systems.
  • Work with the Melting Electrical and Process Control Global Network to develop fit for purpose scope and business proposals, standards and new technology development.

Reporting Relationships:

•    The Process Control Engineer will report directly to the NA Country Group Melting Process Area Manager

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

•    Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent work experience in Electrical Science
•    Minimum 5 years in manufacturing or engineering roles 
•    Ability to develop, read, interpret, and understand electrical and process control diagrams
•    Ability to design electrical connections for Melter boosting
•    Electrical calculations for high voltage wiring preferred but not required

•    AutoCAD drawing creation and specifications creation
•    Proficient in Microsoft 365 Tools
•    English language – fluent & advanced  
•    Familiarity with general engineering and construction projects - desired

Travel Requirements:

•    10% to 20% travel (if required)

Hybrid work model as there will be the expectation to work form the office in Perrysburg as needed therefore the expectation is to be within driving distance to the office.
