We are excited to welcome a dedicated ER/ICU Technician to our team at Southern Rockies Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital in beautiful Colorado Springs!

About the role:
As an ER/ICU Technician, your primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients.  Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients.  Works well with other technical staff and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plan and/or hospitalize the patient.  Communicates medical updates, financials, and treatment plans to owners. 

Compensation:
  • Starting at $25 hourly
    • +$$ night differentials
    • +$$ weekend differentials
Anticipated Schedule:
  • Full Time- SWING shifts
    • Sundays-Tuesday or Thursday - Saturday
    • 3x12 hour shifts
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides excellent patient care to every patient
  • Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
  • Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
  • Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
  • Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
  • Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
  • Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing Instinct
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
  • Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
  • Other duties as needed.<
