We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.Daimler Truck Remarketing (DTR) is the corporate entity supporting Daimler New Truck Sales efforts. Each year DTNA takes in thousands of trades from the largest and most successful mega-fleets in America. DTR is a B2B (Business-to-Business) sales channel to wholesale (“remarket”) used trucks via multiple sales channels. Created to help facilitate new truck transactions while supporting industry-leading resale values.
This internship will focus on using DTR data and Machine Learning to build models to drive insights and decision-making for DTR. You will work closely with DTR staff across business units to gather and document business requirements, identify and gather necessary data, combine, clean and manipulate data and use Machine Learning, AI or Statistical Modeling to build predictive models. You will also glean insights from the curated data and models to present findings to a business and technical audience.
Scope
Develop a solution that predicts the time it takes a used truck to get ready for delivery to a dealer on the VIN level and then take weighted averages of all predictions to get the average time it takes to get a truck ready.
Deliverables
1. Custom SQL code to combine necessary data about trucks on the VIN level
2. A SQL database table containing all truck VIN level data
3. Custom Python or R machine learning model to predict the time it takes for a truck to be ready for delivery
4. Custom Python or R machine learning code to score the data to make new predictions
5. Set schedule for model to run automatically to build and score model
6. A SQL database table containing all the predictions on a VIN level
Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

Knowledge You Should Bring
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
- Some demonstration of programming skills in one or more languages
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
- The ability to create insights utilizing machine learning
- A basic understanding of how machine learning works with the goal of supporting the domain experts
- Customer orientated with the drive to develop customer-focused solution
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
- Pursuing a bachelors degree Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics or related field.
