LOCATION - LOS ANGELES, CA - REMOTE with visits to project site when necessary

Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Estimator who has deep construction estimating experience. The successful candidate will need to be located in the Los Angeles area, work remotely but be able to go to site when necessary.
You will manage the delivery of detailed and accurate estimates for a range of construction projects for Arcadis. Supporting all aspects of the estimating process with the oversite of the Project Management Team. The successful candidate should be able to work independently while maintaining strong relationships, cohesion and transparency with the project team at large and external project Teams.
Role accountabilities:
• Responsible for conceptual planning, early design, pre-bid, hard-bid and negotiated contracts, including the interpretation and quantification of plans and specifications, surveying of existing site conditions, solicitation of material and subcontractor bids, cost estimates, and the preparation of bid documents and proposals
• Prepare estimating procedures and overall estimating review and justification
• Support Project Controls team in decision making
• Create project costings and budgets from clear objectives, managing finances across a project to ensure profit and budgetary targets are met and best value outcomes are achieved
• Lead and manage individual cost management assignments from inception to completion, managing teams and resources to ensure delivery standards meet client expectations
• Assure compliance with contracts in terms of project delivery parameters and scope of service
• Analyze and compile a range of complex data and documents, using knowledge to review and assess analysis and provide recommendations to contribute to project decision making
• Use own knowledge and experience of industry best practices to support the development of current cost and commercial management systems and processes
• Work to improve services and drive innovation to increase team contribution to project delivery
• Manage relationships with customers to identify opportunities to improve the cost management offering and deliver customer satisfaction
• Act as a key technical resource within the field of cost/commercial management, providing technical advice and solutions to internal colleagues to support successful project delivery across a range of projects
• Build valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction, develop the cost management service and create new business opportunities
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Possess complex technical knowledge of construction processes, be able to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP construction plans and related documents like, but not limited to: contracts, technical specifications, etc.
- Design Tender preparation with deep market knowledge for resources/materials/equipment, etc.
- Experienced accessing and working with risk management
- Deep technical knowledge working with range of project software like: Microsoft Fleet, BlueBeam, ProEst, Other Estimating Software
- Strong builder of external Team relationships with a history of turning relationships into new business opportunities
- Be a collaborative partner with internal Teams
- Commitment to health and safety
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written (Knowledge of the Spanish language would be great to have but not necessary)
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying)
• Relevant professional certification (i.e., Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering [AACE], MRICS or similar)
• 10 or more years’ relevant experience
