Join us.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>The <strong>Controllership Accountant</strong> role is a key role within the accounting and finance organisation and will work closely with the UK&amp;I Head of External Reporting. As part of a dynamic team, you will support with the preparation of year end accounting and audit information for our UK &amp; I legal entities, provide month end close support for our international holding company structure where needed, work with the UK&amp;I Head of External Reporting to provide technical accounting advice across the region, and respond to technical accounting and audit related queries from our external auditors.</p><p>You will interact with the wider Europe and India finance team, colleagues across the finance function, our offshore shared service centres, internal and external audit teams, and outside professional advisors. The role will operate across all AECOM divisions, supporting in ensuring accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting information, the management of our legal entity structure, and in optimising this structure to support key business objectives.</p><p><strong>Key responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Supporting the provision of timely, accurate and relevant technical accounting support to the Europe &amp; India business.</li><li>Assisting with the UK &amp; I external audit process, including preparing extended trial balances and statutory accounting notes, and responding to queries from auditors. The UK &amp; I currently has 29 audited companies including several major trading companies, and the AECOM international holding company structure.</li><li>Ensuring UK &amp; I statutory financial statements are accurate, comply with local GAAP and legal regulations and are filed in accordance with local timescales, including posting journal entries.</li><li>Supporting with the annual impairment assessment of investments in subsidiaries,</li><li>Working with our offshore Global Business Services (GBS) team to drive the efficient production of statutory accounts using software to optimise performance. Driving an attitude of continual improvement in the use of accounts production software, and quality where possible.</li><li>Supporting with general ledger accounting and the month end close process for our international holding company structure </li><li>Building strong relationships with internal and external finance colleagues, business partners, advisors, and key business leaders to support, optimise, explain, and manage the financial structures in place to support the business</li><li>Assisting in the ongoing drive to reduce the complexity and size of our legal entity structure by simplifying legal entities and liquidating older legacy companies where possible</li><li>Supporting in collating financial information to assist bid submissions on potential future projects for the business</li><li>Participating in special projects and ad hoc requests where possible (e.g. corporate restructurings and significant/ unusual transactions)</li><li>Supporting the implementation of new UK/ US GAAP accounting standards and corporate accounting policies across the Europe and India region in conjunction with our Global Accounting team, where possible</li><li>Supporting the internal audit process throughout the period to ensure that as a firm our internal control environment is strong and compliant with public company requirements and AECOM policies; </li><li>Working with Tax, Treasury and legal to ensure that all tax, treasury, and finance matters are compliant and optimised where applicable.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>Minimum requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent</li><li>Chartered Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar)</li><li>Good Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word</li><li>Experience in accounting and reporting: specifically technical financial reporting and audits in a publ
