Join Our Innovative Displays FPGA Team!

Are you passionate about driving efficiency and innovation in FPGA/ASIC development? Our Displays FPGA team is on a mission to develop a cutting-edge toolchain that automates the creation of register blocks while generating corresponding documentation and tests. While similar tools exist through vendors and open-source platforms, none currently meet the rigorous requirements of a certified DO-254 avionics device. This is where you come in.

As an intern, you'll spend the summer contributing to this transformative effort by designing and integrating software components to build a robust, reliable toolchain that enhances productivity across FPGA/ASIC development projects.

This is a unique opportunity to not only gain hands-on experience but also make a lasting impact on the future of avionics technology. Join us and help shape the tools that set the standard for certified devices in the aerospace industry!

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the development of a cutting-edge toolchain that automates the creation of FPGA/ASIC register blocks.
  • Design, integrate, and test software components to support toolchain automation.
  • Collaborate with experienced FPGA engineers to ensure the toolchain meets DO-254 avionics certification standards.
  • Enhance productivity and consistency across FPGA and ASIC development projects.
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and system integration activities.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to create robust, reliable, and maintainable tools.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to develop software that meets the rigorous standards of DO-254 certified avionics systems.
  • The fundamentals of FPGA and ASIC development workflows and toolchains.
  • Techniques for automating documentation and test generation in complex engineering environments.
  • Best practices in collaborative engineering, design verification, and system integration.
  • How to balance innovation with compliance in safety-critical aerospace systems.
  • The end-to-end lifecycle of hardware and software co-development within an avionics context.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity using an FPGA vendor tool suite
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python.
  • Understanding of avionics RTDA standards, including DO-254 and DO-330
  • Familiarity with Hardware Description Languages (HDL) such as VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Knowledge of standard languages like SystemRDL and IP-XACT.
