About the role
The role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and has primary responsibility for GL, Cash and Revenue accounting. This position provides a great growth opportunity for the right individual who will be able to accept additional responsibilities as AEG completes future acquisitions.
- Ensure all cash and revenue transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with US GAAP
- Extract data from bank statements to be put into a report format
- Track all depository accounts to ensure the cash activity is being compiled into a report format on a weekly basis
- Prepare monthly cash journal entries
- Reconcile cash at locations level to identify any discrepancies between our cash system report and the actual deposits
- Assist in internal control documentation and policy implementation
- Identify process improvement opportunities as it relates to the job roles area of responsibility
- Complete month-end close activities in line with the preparation and review of journal entries in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting functions
- Prepare account analysis and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts
- Communicate/work with other Corporate departments to research reconciling items
- Maintain accurate, timely and well organized computer and paper files and supporting documentation for areas of responsibility.
- Utilize systems, policies and procedures to promote appropriate internal controls, best practices and efficient and cost-effective processes
- Cross-train with other designated financial areas for development of people and department. Serve as a cross-functional back-up when needed
- Assist the Accounting Manager with projects as needed
- Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years progressive accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups and handling large amounts of data) required
- Must be comfortable working in a high volume, data-intensive environment
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional Series (Excel, Word and Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn and use job-specific computer programs
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong communications, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to gather facts, analyze problems in depth and break down into components
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization promptly and professionally
- Personable, helpful, enthusiastic, creative, project a positive attitude and be a team leader and player
- High integrity and work ethic
- Lease Accountant preferable but not necessary
