About the role

Overview

The Department is seeking a highly qualified Director of Research and Data Analytics to lead our Research and Data Unit. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will oversee a team of three data analysts and will be responsible for delivering comprehensive data analysis, reporting, and research expertise across the Department. The Director will leverage insights from the Research and Data Unit to support Executive Leadership in informed decision-making, contribute to the strategic vision of the Department, and assess the effectiveness of our programs. Additionally, this position will serve as a representative of the Department in discussions related to data and research with stakeholder and elected officials.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis and reporting of data maintained by the Department.
  • Provide research and data expertise to enhance departmental initiatives.
  • Assist Department of Corrections (DOC) leadership in making data-driven decisions.
  • Lead the Research and Data Unit, supervising a team of three data analysts to perform research and data-related tasks that coincide with the Department’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Represent DOC in committees and groups focused on research and data initiatives.
  • Presents data internally as well as to other Agency of Human Services departments, external stakeholders, legislators, partners, the press, and business associates.
  • Ensures Research and Data Unit maintains education/training on appropriate protocols in analyzing data and reaching accurate conclusions.
  • Develops research partnerships with universities, including facilitating contracts with external/AHS partners, and overseeing student research requests. 

 

As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 30 will be $44.38 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $68.54 per hour.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed under normal office working conditions. Private means of transportation is necessary fo work related travel. Interaction with federal, state, and local officials, private and public service providers, and the general public is present. Some evening and/or overtime work may be required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Statistics or Economics AND two (2) years’ experience at a professional level in the analysis and presentation of statistical data or economic forecasting and projections, quantitative research, or program evaluation including at least two years of supervisory experience and experience presenting data at a professional level.

 

OR

 

Master's degree AND three (3) years’ experience at a professional level in the analysis and presentation of statistical data or economic forecasting and projection, quantitative research, or program evaluation including at least two years of supervisory experience and experience presenting data at a professional level.

 

OR

 

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years’ experience at a professional level in the analysis and presentation of statistical data or economic forecasting and projection, quantitative research, or program evaluation including at least two years of supervisory experience and experience presenting data at a professional level.

 

OR

 

Six (6) years’ experience at a professional level in the analysis and presentation of statistical data or economic forecasting and projection, quantitative research, or program evaluation including at least two years of supervisory experience and experience presenting data at a professional level.
